Paleo Apple Crumble

Happy Weekend Everyone! Paleo Apple Crumble

I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend or an adventure filled one, which ever you prefer! Saturdays are typically my Fridays because when owning a store you probably should be open on Saturday because it is usually the biggest day of the week!

Anyways, I have a friend who comes from England by way of Florida (he lives in Florida now but is originally from England), and while he was up visit me here in the beautiful foothills of the North Carolina Mountains, my mom made this amazing dessert! She made this dessert for the first time well over 4 years ago but it is still iconic in our family today. The best thing that I can think of about this beautiful dessert is that it can easily be used with any fruit you want; apples, blackberries, blueberries or even a triple berry delight!

However, it didn’t dawn on me until just recently that I can actually play with this recipe! I know, I know what am I thinking changing mom’s recipe? Well how am I going to learn? So I played and I realized I could potentially make it to be gluten free, vegan, paleo or well all of the above! So I did it! I knew I had to share this recipe!

Paleo Apple Crumble:
2 Cups Chopped up Apples (3 small or 2 medium apples)
1/4 Cup Organic Coconut Palm Sugar (plus 1/2 cup for the Topping)
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
1 Cup Almond Meal
6 Tbsp Coconut Flour
1/4 cup Applesauce
6 Tbsp Coconut Oil (melted)

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Chop up your apples very small (about 1/2 inch cubes at the most) and mix your lemon juice, cinnamon and 1/4 cup coconut palm sugar. Let it stand for about 15 to 20 minutes so that it can make a little juice.

While your apples are making your juice mix together your applesauce Almond meal, coconut flour and the rest of your coconut palm sugar. Mix until it makes a crumbly topping like. You may have to add more Almond meal to get it a little bit dryer.

Pour your apple mixture into a skillet that has been lined with melted coconut oil. Then pour your crumble topping on top then pour your coconut oil on top and bake for about 13 minutes or until the crumble starts to brown on top. let cool slightly and serve with some ice cream or a whipped topping!

I think it is the best fresh and warm because the apples are fresh and hot and that is the best time to eat them! I am not going to lie it took some time to create the best combination for the crumble. Almond meal is not very absorbent (but Almond flour is, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE) and coconut flour is very absorbent (I kinda knew that) so I played and played with it until I got it to the consistency where I like it! The cinnamon to the apples makes a great Appletaste too!

I am always on Instagram ( I take too many pictures of my dogs and I am not sorry for that!) and love to see new exciting foods, dogs or mountains!

I hope you have a blessed weekend filled with relaxation and adventure!

You are so knowledgable about gluten free baking, you impress me so much. If I lived with you we would both weigh 2 ton!! This looks so good, I love an apple, or any fruit, crumble, with ice cream. Delish!

I’m so glad I found this today. I miss my go-to apple crisp recipe since going paleo, but I knew there had to be a paleo friendly version out there that would be just as good. This one looks like it just might fit the bill. Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to try it out.
