As you can see I am super excited for the up and coming season. I have already gotten all of my decorations out!
(okay so I really need to update my decorations…)If anyone has any ideas of fall decorations please feel free to share with me! I am a crafty person around midnight to 1 o’clock in the morning when I am beyond delusional and I feel the need to decorate every inch of my tiny 700 square foot apartment! (Yeah I get that bad!)
That state usually happens when I want to impress my mom when she comes over in order to distract her from the loads of laundry that I haven’t done yet that week. Don’t worry I do it weekly! (or week and a halfly…Yes I made that up!)
I have been working on this recipe for awhile. My usual chili is: okay so taco meat from last night? throw in there, spaghetti sauce with meat in it from a few nights ago? throw in there mix in some crushed tomatoes and throw some spices in there and call it good… but this pasta sauce turkey chili is probably better than that! It literally took me 30 minutes to make and get hot. I only made enough for two of use with about 3 meals worth of left overs and that was it. My freezer sadly is not huge so I can only do so much with it!
Pasta Sauce Turkey Chili
1 lb Ground Turkey (you can use ground chicken or ground beef too!)
1/2 tsp Roasted Granulated Garlic
1 tsp minced onion flakes
1 tsp Chili Powder (if you need to back it up a little bit you can!)
1/4 tsp Ground Cayenne Pepper (not needed if it is too spicy for you!)
1 15 oz can of Kidney beans rinsed
1 28 oz can of Crushed Tomatoes
1 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes (and puree them with a food processor or you can leave them whole if you want)
1 16 oz can of your favorite pasta sauce (or homemade that is what I used)
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp Parsley
Put your turkey in the pan with about 1/4 cup of water (this will let it cook in the all the flavors) add in your garlic, onion flakes, chili powder and cayenne. Cook your ground turkey down into the tiniest chunks possible ( I did mine in the crock pot at work so mine cooked slow and got super duper small).
Then add in your beans, tomatoes and sauces along with the rest of your spices. Let it cook for about 20 minutes or until it come to a slow and steady boil. Take off the burner and cover your pot and let it set for another 10 minutes. This will let the spices soak into the meat and beans!
Serve hot with some corn bread or cheddar bay biscuits! (gluten free version I use can be found at Mattie’s Pantry here).
Yes, definitely a fall dish I made this the other night after it had been raining all day so it was perfect because it was
a Sunday and we were lazy all day after church! It was just perfect for the a Netflix movie and sitting in your favorite pajamas with your favorite person or people with your rambunctious dog.
This Pasta sauce turkey chili is sure a twist on the same old chili that I have made over and over again! It had a lot of flavor which made you want to eat more and more! I have always loved making chili especially since it means cooler weather is coming. We like to switch up this recipe sometimes and add in black beans when we don’t have red kidney beans on hand just to give us something a little different!

I am getting in the mood for soup with this chilly evening weather. This will be the first year i have a vegetarian in the house for soup season, I will have 2 crock pots going. Hubby and I like meat in most of our soups, meat that simmers long and low, but I will be testing our vegetable stocks for my daughter. She loves a great 15 bean soup as well as chili, I’ll have to try your recipe! It looks like it would be great with your zucchini tortillas filled with cheese, like a quesadilla to dunk in the chili, yum!!!
It is about 61 degrees here currently and I am absolutely loving it! I cannot wait till fall really does come!
This sounds yummy for fall. I never think of using turkey for chili. I should try to sneak it in. My family has some picky eaters, which challenges me for meal making.
It is so yummy Theresa! I have to slip it in too but I can’t help but tell them afterwards!
I’m always so amazed by you! This looks so good! Pinned and tweeted. I appreciate you taking the time to party with us. I hope to see you on Monday at 7. Happy Saturday! Lou Lou Girls
Of course! I will be there! Have a great day!
