Traditional Taco Dip

Happy FriYAY! Taco Dip CV2

What a week it has been with snow melting or in someone else’s case maybe even more SNOW!

With a certain football game coming up (GO PANTHERS!) on us quick (it is already 2016 people!!) I felt the need to share with you all my favorite, and I mean FAVORITE, dip to have for any game day. Why you ask? Because it is so EASY! Taco Dip! Can easily be used for chips, veggies or it can literally go inside tacos too! We have used it with our tacos before and it is might tasty! With so much taste, this taco dip is anything but traditional!

I first learned how to make this taco dip when the Buccaneers were last in the Superbowl and it was from one of my Friend’s Mom. (I lived in Florida at the time) I was in seventh grade and more interested in making the food than the football! I know I was one weird child but I figured I might have to cook to survive later in life. I am honestly surprise I have even remembered that because it was so long ago (13 years!).

Taco DipTaco Dip 3
1 8oz block Cream Cheese (softened)
1 8oz bottle of Taco Sauce (or 1 cup)
Lettuce
Cheese
Tomatoes (optional)
Olives (Optional)

Take your softened cream cheese and your taco sauce combine them in a bowl. I use my hand mixer (or beaters) to mix those up well. Takes about 2 minutes because I like it with as little lumps as possible. Spread your cream cheese mix on to a platter or pan evenly and then layer your lettuce, cheese and what ever else you would like on top. Serve chilled with some chips and veggies!

This taco dip can be made to suit who ever. You don’t like olives okay don’t use them. You want hot? Use a hot taco sauce. You want peppers? Add some green chilies on top! It is the customization I love the most because it can be made to your own taste buds! I am not a spicy person, so I use mild taco sauce and stay clear from the peppers that could make them too hot.

And of course it is gluten free but that is just an added bonus to this scrumptious dip!

It is so funny! I literally have a memory for just about all of my recipes! This one is no exception either!

I remember Summer 2003 (right after I learned how to  make this dip), I made this dip for my grandma and I. We had some and then placed in the fridge for later munching. My cousin Denee and I went to the mall (because that is what you do when you have a cousin who can drive!). We came back and my other cousin Nick was sitting on the porch with my grandma literally licking the plate! I asked if he enjoyed it and he said “…ehh, could be hotter.” He loved it; he just won’t admit it.

Anyways, I really thought I was the best cook in the world because loved my taco dip, yet I probably didn’t even know how to make spaghetti let alone actually cook anything else! I baked back then a lot though.

For the Super Bowl you might want to serve along with some Turkey Sausage Balls! They are full of flavor and the perfect snack to have for any game day too! Also a great dip is the Avocado Ranch Dressing healthy and it is sure to please everyone!
