Gluten Free Turkey Sausage Balls

Happy FRIDAY!!!!

It is Finally Friday! Turkey Sausage balls CV1

#FriYAY

I will probably always show my excitement for the most loved day of the week!

Honestly, Friday is not the last day of the week for me because our store is open on Saturday too but I guess it’s just because everyone is in such a good mood on Friday’s that it makes me extra happy! AND that could put anyone in a good mood!

This week I have not fallen off the healthy wagon at all okay maybe a little bit with a french fry or five… but hey I would rather have a little bit than binge eat! (I can be known to do that at times!)

This past year I was introduced sausage balls! I mean cheese, sausage and bread filled sausage balls! It sounds completely unhealthy and full of a heart attack waiting to happen if you eat 50 too many of them. However, These sausage balls were made with all ground turkey and all healthy foods to make it gluten free and totally amazing! The one thing that probably took a the most time was finding a way for the turkey sausage balls to be moist without using extra fat like in regular pork sausage. By adding about 1/2 cup of water it made the perfect healthier version of the sausage balls that everyone loves!

Gluten free Turkey Sausage Balls turkey sausage balls
Turkey Sausage:
1 pound Ground Turkey
1 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning (no salt)
1 tsp Himalayan Sea Salt
3/4 tsp Black Pepper
1/2 tsp Red pepper Flakes

Sausage Balls :
1 pound of the turkey sausage
1 1/3 cups Brown Rice Flour
2/3 cup Tapioca Starch
2 tsp Xanthan Gum
1 tsp Baking soda
2 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Himalayan Sea Salt
Pinch of sugar

1/2 cup Water

2-3 cups Shredded Cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mix together all your spices and ground turkey together.

Then mix all of your ingredients for the flour mixture minus the water. Add in your dry mix to your sausage mix and then add in your water and cheese and mix well.

Take a small spoon and spoon out sausage balls onto a pan that has been sprayed with nonstick spray. The sausage balls should be small an 1 inch flattened ball no bigger or else they will take longer to get done.

Bake for about 23-25 minutes.

Let cool on pan for about 2-3 minutes. Serve with some ranch dip or your favorite dipping sauce.

Honestly, these yummy sausage balls are great cold or warm. they make great snacks for parties, get togethers and game nights! We will make them when we are invited over to someone else’s house or people are coming over. They are such a great munchy to have sitting on the table for people to pick at. Most people cannot believe that it is not pork sausage and then eat more because they are healthier than the normal sausage ball! However, just be careful because too much of a good thing can be bad!

Oh gosh these sound good. When I stop playing the newborn card (people bringing stuff to me when they visit so I don’t have to cook lol) these are definitely going to make their way into rotation! Until then maybe I’ll make em just for me hehe

These sound really good and definitely sound like a recipe I would love to try. Quick question. I’ve never made a recipe with Xanthan Gum in it before. Where can I buy that?

In something like this it isn’t necessary. It is just the gum to use instead of using gluten. You can find it in the baking aisle of a lot of grocery stores but if you can only guar gum it is the same thing just a little bit more natural. Usually Guar gum is harder find and way expensive though. Xanthan gum is cheaper!

I just found out that I have to eat completely gluten free so I need to start making more gluten free recipes. However, I’m having a hard time finding ingredients like Tapioca Starch and Xantham Gum in my small southern town grocery stores!
